Gathering as the Ekklésia

Our hearts' desire as a group of believers is to live in the culture of the kingdom of God, that is, to be a people called out of the world and into His kingdom, where we love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and we love others as we love ourselves.

“I am the Lord, your Holy One, The Creator of Israel, your King.”  This is what the Lord says, He who makes a way through the sea and a path through the mighty waters, He who brings out the chariot and the horse, the army and the mighty warrior. They will lie down together, they will not rise again; They have been extinguished, they have been put out like a lamp’s wick: “Do not remember the former things or ponder the things of the past. “Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.  Isaiah 43:15-19 AMP

But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels in festive gathering, and to the general assembly and assembly (ekklésia) of the firstborn who are registered as citizens in heaven, and to God, who is Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous the redeemed in heaven who have been made perfect bringing them to their final glory,  and to Jesus, the Mediator of a new covenant uniting God and man, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of mercy, a better and nobler and more gracious message than the blood of Abel which cried out for vengeance.  Hebrews 12:22-24 AMP

Therefore see that you walk carefully, living life with honor, purpose, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil, not as the unwise, but as wise, sensible, intelligent, discerning people, making the very most of your time on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence, because the days are filled with evil.  Therefore, do not be foolish and thoughtless, but understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is. Do not get drunk with wine, for that is wickedness, corruption, stupidity, but be filled with the Holy Spirit and constantly guided by Him.  Speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise by singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks to God the Father for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; being subject to one another out of reverence for Christ.  Ephesians 5:15-21

Beyond all these things put on and wrap yourselves in unselfish love, which is the perfect bond of unity for everything is bound together in agreement when each one seeks the best for others. Let the peace of Christ the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him be the controlling factor in your hearts deciding and settling questions that arise. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body of believers. And be thankful to God always.  Let the spoken word of Christ have its home within you dwelling in your heart and mind—permeating every aspect of your being as you teach spiritual things and admonish and train one another with all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do, no matter what it is, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in dependence on Him, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:14-17

Pursue this love with eagerness, make it your goal, yet earnestly desire and cultivate the spiritual gifts to be used by believers for the benefit of the church, but especially that you may prophesy to foretell the future, to speak a new message from God to the people.  For one who speaks in an unknown tongue does not speak to people but to God; for no one understands him or catches his meaning, but by the Spirit he speaks mysteries, secret truths, hidden things. But on the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for edification, to promote their spiritual growth, and speaks words of encouragement to uphold and advise them concerning the matters of God and speaks words of consolation, to compassionately comfort them.  1 Corinthians 14:1-3 AMP

What is it then, brothers and sisters? Whenever you come together, each one has a psalm, a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.   1 Corinthians 14:26 TLV

But speaking the truth in love in all things—both our speech and our lives expressing His truth, let us grow up in all things into Him, following His example who is the Head—Christ. From Him the whole body, [the church, in all its various parts], joined and knitted firmly together by what every joint supplies, when each part is working properly, causes the body to grow and mature, building itself up in unselfish love.  Ephesians 4:15-16 AMP
